THE GLASS HOUSE rocks the 25th Sundance Film Festival, 2009

We spent ten fantastic days in Park City for the North American premiere of The Glass House. We presented the film to five packed houses where audiences stayed behind to participate in the heated Q and A's. On the first day of the festival (Thurs, 1/15) CNN ran a 3 minute segment on the film and billed it as a "must see" of the festival. We spent the first week, which was sunny and warm, running from party to party, networking, giving interviews, handing out screeners to programmers and giving away soundtracks to fans.

Our second weekend entourage: Morad Masjedi, Sanam Akhlag, Kia Kiso, and Leila Zubi

The second weekend brough in the ice and snow. When we weren't sliding off hills and making 2AM rescues off the snowy cliffs, we had the chance to see some of the other films in competition and mingle with some great filmmakers.

Thanks to our "entourage" who traveled to Park City to support The Glass House and of course get a bit of skiing in: Maddy Rose and Weldon Wright from Dallas TX, Josh Judkins from Salt Lake City, Sheila Karbassian, Ali Navab and Kia Dawson from Los Angeles, Houshyar Kashani, Babak Sadeghi, Sanam Akhlag, Morad Masjedi and Leila Zubi from NYC. A big thanks to David Bergeaud, our composer, and his wife Lesa Hardy for making the trip from LA dispite their car dysfunctions. And a huge thanks to Bruce and Julie Hibbard for allowing our tribe to disrupt their quiet mountain life and take over for almost two weeks.

Hear from our Donors: We were privileged to have Leila Zubi and Babak Sadeghi at the North America premiere.

Babak Sadeghi: "The anticipation to see The Glass House on the big screen was well worth the wait, and what better venue than Sundance for the US premiere? More importanlty The Glass House is a strong film and this is evident no more by the reaction and the questions from the audiences. Congratulations Hamid and Melissa on yet another thought-inducing film and bringing to light another critically important subject from Iran."

Leila Zubi: "If you look beyond the political discourse between Iran and the West, you"ll find a very special and little known center in Tehran dedicated to helping young women overcome their abuse and lead healthy and productive lives. It's easy to show the horrors suffered by these women. It is a rare treat, however, when a film shows the delicacy, hope, and inner fortitude of these outcast heroines amidst their abuse and neglect. The Glass House by filmmakers, Hamid Rahmanian and Melissa Hibbard, is a remarkable film. I was very honored to contribute to this groundbreaking documentary. I was especially delighted that their extraordinary talents were honored by the film's selection at the Sundance Film Festival. With five sold-out screenings and numerous U.S. and foreign journalists vying for interviews with Hamid and Melissa, there is no better indicator of a film's appeal to the audiences and its critical success. I was privileged to be at Sundance with Hamid and Melissa, and incredibly proud to share in their success."
